Mondia expands in mobile health with the acquisition of Mobistar

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 17 January 2019: Mondia, a leading private mobile technology company, announced the acquisition of Mobistar, a specialist engagement business, focused on mobile health including social development. The acquisition follows the natural progression of an existing partnership between the two parties, which has seen phenomenal success. This includes ‘Mum and Baby’,  a stage-based maternal and health support service in South Africa.

The acquisition will add a new exciting dimension to the existing Mondia product and service portfolio, extending a range of health and advisory services. Mondia, known for its offering in the entertainment and payment sectors will benefit from the expertise and experience offered by Mobistar, to focus on providing meaningful solutions to a wide range of customers. These solutions are aligned to help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals Number 3: Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages. As outlined in this report, maternal mortality ratio and preventable deaths of newborns and children under the age of five, remain high on the agenda for the United Nations.

According to a Healthcare Prediction Report by Forbes, digital or mobile health tech catering to out of hospital will grow by 30% and cross $25 billion in 2019.  The growing of a digital healthcare offering will assist, not only in reach of people, but also streamlining processes and in improving patient engagement.

Mondia will expand its technical expertise with the hiring of a dedicated management team and developers to be able to tailor regional nuances such as language, culture, regulations and other specific country needs.
